Vet Student Program

Vet Student Program

Prepare for and navigate your clinical year with confidence

A mentorship program in which 3rd and 4th year veterinary students receive timely, individualized, virtual feedback from two seasoned veterinarians. The mentorship is tailored to meet each student's specific needs, and empower them to grow into confident and competent veterinarians. The student will have quick and easy access to Doctors Laura and Anthony Fernandez as their "pocket mentors", and can receive responses from one or both of the veterinarians via text, voice message, videos, or video chat. Longer, virtual meetings are also scheduled when needed based on the topic at hand, and to keep the mentor-mentee relationship strong.

The Doctors Fernandez help students learn to maximize study efficiency, manage real-life cases, write medical records, work on conflict resolution, and communicate effectively with both colleagues and clients. They realize that the last two years of vet school are extremely exciting, but also emotionally exhausting, and aim to provide mental and emotional support during this time. Nothing is "off-limits" with them, as they are available to discuss difficult things like student loan debt, financial literacy, mental health, "imposter syndrome", euthanasia, and more.
